I can only hope it was an inadvertent conjunction of Chinese-American player and old-fashioned expression... But deep down inside, I'm pretty sure someone thought it would be "cute" to play with a double entendre. Gah.
A few hours later, and there are signs of hope for the continued existence of cogent, caring thought: ESPN has fired the employee who posted this headline, and given a 30-day suspension to an on-air announcer who used the same term in the same way.
