So she has an appointment on Monday morning but D has been having intermittent redness on the backs of her hands. We had weeks ago and I gave her some lotion and then it was gone. Now every day when I pick her up at day care it looks like she has gloves on. The redness goes from her fingers to her wrist. She says it doesn't really hurt (although she acts like it does in the bathtub- but not when you touch it) In the morning the redness is gone (regardless of whether I give her lotion, or anything before bed) Both schools she attends have not changed soap or anything. One nurse thought it was dermatitis, the other one thought maybe really chapped hands from not drying well and going out in the cold. Right now there is no redness but her skin feels very scaly and rough and leathery. There are no other places ANYWHERE else on her- and it is both hands, but not the fingers or the palms. I tried to do the Google thing but thought who is better for medical advice than random people on the internet.

Could it possibly be eczema? I'm not sure if it could Psoriasis, but i don't think so, because some symptoms don't match up. Not sure if this helped. This is the best i could give you from a 16 year old perspective, but i hope it helped, even if it was minimal.
So my Hannah's hands look the same.. just last night she was crying because they were so red and dry. I thinkg that's it - dry skin. She is in a peanut free class room and uses wipes several times a day. Coupled with bathroom handwashes, her poor skin is red raw... we used vaseline/eucerin to help. Good luck!
If she's waking up with hands OK and then you see this redness (which seems to have a very well-defined edge) after being in day care, I'd suggest checking on what she's coming in contact with while she's there...
we have the same thing it is the soap at daycare and she just puts so much on and must not get it all off, I have taken special cream to daycare and I ahve shown my daughter how to put a pea size of soap on her hands to wash at home we use a lotion based soap. she sometimes sleeps in gloves to moistureize her hands...we manage it well wish i could provide the soap at daycare others have the same issue not quite as extreme as our daughter.
How long has this been happening? it looks like a reaction to something she's wiped on her hands. Also, has she been sleeping well? if not, or if she's otherwise stressed, then she could be having a reaction to something (e.g. soap) that she wouldn't otherwise react to.
